Thank You Levi, I hope your wrong about a busy season for all of us. But your great videos keep me in the “hurricane mode”. Just checked my hurricane supplies and did an inventory on my shutters and wd-40’d all the nuts and bolts to secure the homestead! This time of year always scares me living in South Florida but your great work keeps me calm knowing that your vision weeks away at least gives all of us some “heads up”. Keep up the great work!

U do a great job with your videos. Very informative and a polished presentation.

Thanks for your forecast. So frustrating to be sitting here in South Texas in a catastrophic drought praying for rain, and watching the moisture head the wrong way – for the people praying for the rain to stop.

Thanks Levi. I get what you are saying about the flat trough. Having strong trade winds covering tropical waves blocks rotation from forming because the trade winds are much stronger than the westerly winds on the south side of a weak surface low, but having those strong trade winds to the north would promote storm development just as the northeast winds behind cold fronts aid in rotation that leads to late season tropical development in the western Caribbean.

One thing that stands out to me this year is that the strong tropical waves over Africa have plenty of room between them so they will be able to develop with less competition. As long as they develop early and recurve, i will be happy.

You are totally right about the strong trade winds. I am in eastern Florida and we have a consistent 15Kt ESE wind. Usually this time of year, it’s just very still and very hot. It’s neither.
I am wondering what that means for South Florida

Thanks for the great video Levi, do you know of a place were I can get a breakdown of the workings of the MJO map you use? I live in the Caribbean and understand most of the terms used here, but I still can’t grasp the MJO thing.

    Thanks!

    • Levi says:

I actually haven’t found a good explanation of the MJO for the lay person. I periodically try to explain it in my videos. It’s probably time to do it again, so the next time I mention the MJO I’ll try to describe it.

Thanks Levi, I was away for a few days, but will go through your updates to look for it. Have a good one!

Hey Levi. Your videos are phenomenal. I have learned a ton. I saw you mention in a prev comment that you will try to discuss the MJO next time you mention it. Maybe since we have a lull in the tropics for the time being you can do a video now specifically discussing it, and then reiterate your points as it applies to this years tropics. If your not busy of course. Just a thought from a weather enthusiast. Thanks
