    Levi,
The sept 6th global +hurricane 00z forecast looks like more models are shifting this more east.
Do you expect the euro to do the same.

    Nice work!!

  • tucker says:

Well done Levi, I wonder if Irma continues to pickup forward speed would that make the turn sooner or later.

  • Captain Tugz says:

    Fabulous analysis! Thanks Levi!

Thank you Levi. I cannot express how much I appreciate your factual analysis that a layperson can follow, and your lack of hype or sensationalism. Your work is dramatically important to all of us in the potential path.

  • BeachFoxx says:

Thank you Levi. Must admit Irma has me a bit concerned. Sitting here on Fl. Panhandle hoping that I don’t have to pack up and head north. It’s times like these I miss WU! Thankful we have you!
Hope you got. My little token of appreciation.

    Levi,

For your awesome website alone, which I have enjoyed basically since its inception, I just dropped $20 a month in the hat. Your insight at times like these is appreciated by more people that you know. Even the seasoned weather nerd I am, it is still great to hear what you have to say. Keep up the fantastic work!

  • Steve says:

    Thank you, Levi. Very informative!

You didn’t mention New England in any of the scenarios discussed. Is it safe to say that we’re out of the woods?

  • FishOutofWater aka George says:

Costco in Apex NC was unusually busy. I’m glad I wasn’t in Wilmington. Folks here are getting ready if the storm takes the 18z GFS track. The Carolinas are not out of the woods yet.

The U. Miami ocean heat content map tells the story of why Irma is so strong. There’s more heat in the Atlantic ocean than there was in 2005, according to AOML and U. Miami maps. The growing heat content of the N. Atlantic (Leviticus et al) is making stronger storms possible. Note that SSTs are not warmer than 2005. The waters are warmer at depth this year.

Great site, Levi. May your servers keep on dishing up the maps.

  • Peter says:

Is it strange living in the potential storm path I find this comforting, any understanding no matter how rudementry is much better than having some anchor speak vagaries around the “cone of uncertainty.” Tanks for giving us a peak rather than leaving us as Schrodingers flood victims.

  • Buck says:

Levi, I learned more about hurricanes in general and Irma in particular from your Tuesday night briefing than all the hours I’ve wasted looking at too many models and innumerable plots. Thanks for the great site – I was pleased to kick in $25 to it!

  • Liz B says:

I wish all forecasts were like yours! Thank you for your factual information. Here in Cape Coral, FL. Leaving Thursday morning. Prays for everyone in the path! Sharing this on FB in hopes that some people can understand more of what is happening behind the scenes.

  • Jennifer says:

Any chance it will come to ms/la????

  • Renegade says:

Great stuff! Very informative without the drama. Sharing your site with my executive team so they have a better understanding of the “sausage making” of a forecast.

  • Dale sawyer says:

How come you never mentioned the Bahamas tonight?

  • Annie says:

    Thank you Levi!
    -Annie

  • Michele says:

I just started listening to your videos recently, and they are really great and informative. I have family in South Florida, and am hoping for the best for all. Thanks again!

  • Janet says:

    Levi

I understand you live in Florida. I don’t know where. Please stay safe. Many people depend on you and speaking for the rest, want YOU safe. If Irma heads your way please let us know so we won’t worry about you. I can’t speak for others but I care.

    Janet

  • carolinagal says:

Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I’ve been learning from you since WU blogs. Your videos are always helpful. Tonight, our local TV meteorolgist (Rob Fowler, Charleston SC) used some of your graphics in his Facebook live presentation. He credited Tropical Tidbits, and gave a shout out to you personally.

  • Madge says:

    Thank you !!!

  • Phyllis Harris says:

Levi, this is my first time seeing your information. Very informative. Please add my email to your list. Thank you.

  • James says:

Hi Levi, Is Irma a Biloxi, Mississippi danger? Please tell me this will not get into the GOM as a landfalling Cat 5 monster hurricane. Yikes!

    • Levi says:

The odds of a GOM track are decreasing a bit since yesterday, and odds of the storm getting as far west as Mississippi are pretty low.

  • DaveinWeston says:

I couldn’t sleep (living in south Florida). I just looked at the 2 AM ECMWF run and now it has shifted back east, closer to the latest GFS. Could this thing now skim the south Florida coast or miss it all together? This has become grueling.

  • mykldee says:

Excellent commentary. thank you for your expertise.

  • CaptDJB says:

YAY 2 AM EURO MOVED EAST !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just KEEP watching the TRACKING Levi provides

  • Anonymous says:

Wow. What a storm. Weaving her way through to the warmest water. What an absolute pig of a beast.

  • Bug says:

    Thanks, Levi.

Not looking really good for us up here in SC, is it? Ick.

I see some folks posting in from WU. Hi, Gams, Caro!

  • bernie says:

youc have the “gift” for explanations that the layman can unders tand!!

  • sam hill says:

Levi, am wondering why the GFS run found under the FORECAST MODELS/Hurricane/Irma link is only running 12 hr loops????
Will it be extending it’s time frame anytime soon???
HOPING SO!!! THANKS FOR BEING OUT THERE!!! YOU’RE THE BEST!

    • Levi says:

The models have to update when new runs come in, so you will see less data while new data is coming in. You can always see the older runs by using the menu.

  • sam hill says:

NOW IT’s BACK TO 240HRS HOOOOORAY! and thx!

  • Nancy says:

Thank you for your very clear, no frills, no drama forecast. A friend who works on a big working ship and tracks weather for them gave me your site and I check it regularly for updates. Some people are getting panic attacks from watching the major news stations and hearing the information that is overly dramatized. Just give me the facts is all I want and then I can prepare accordingly. You’re doing such a great job of informing folks….I continue to post your site posts on my FB page and sent it via email to all my friends.
