Tropical Depression Three Forms in the Bahamas

Posted by Levi at 4:56pm on July 22, 2019

A tropical wave moving through the northern Bahamas has acquired a closed circulation, and is now a tropical depression. The system will turn northward near the southeast Florida coastline Monday night and Tuesday, but is not expected to strengthen significantly due to a combination of dry air and an approaching cold front from the northwest. The only impact is expected to be enhanced rainfall and gusty winds along eastern Florida and the northern Bahamas tonight and tomorrow. The system is expected to disintegrate and get absorbed by the cold front off the southeast U.S. coast by Wednesday.

Yes it did. I do think that it could briefly become Tropical Storm Chantal.

Well. Didn’t happen but its typical. The coniditions we’re only marginally conudcitve. There’s a new area in the Caribbean the models show it could look back off the east coast and strike florida as a hurricane! I will continue with updates. Stay safe and weather wise. =)

Yesterday this thing was down to only a 10% chance of development and they said it would be gone today. NHC still isn’t good at forecasting intensity, though their forecast tracking has definitely improved over the last 10 years or do.
