I think the NHC has the right people in place to make the decisions on what classification to use. It’s a unique balance between warning the public and minimizing panic. Second guessing individuals who have spent their lives studying one of the most dynamic weather phenomenon is myopic.
Please add another update analysis, since is entering to the Caribbean today, to understand all the factors or new changes on the area that could affect the formation of the storm.
Levi usually posts once a day when there’s an active storm nearing land (including islands) in the Atlantic. It’s also worth checking his Twitter for info, though: he posted at about midnight EDT that he won’t have a video update “today” (by which I think he meant August 9) but would have one in the morning (presumably soonish).
Might be worth noting that he’s based in Hawaii now, so his “morning” is now six hours different than Eastern time.

FYI, this latest blog post is not appearing on the main page.

It just was.
Boom. Here comes Fred.
Once it masks up and gets vaccine we can designate it as a potential tropical cyclone
The forecasted track of the storm is very similar to Hurricane Elsa’s forecasted track when entering the Caribbean Sea earlier in July.
Please add another update analysis, since is entering to the Caribbean today, to understand all the factors or new changes on the area that could affect the formation of the storm.
How often do you update? Thank you!
