[Oct 28] Tropical Depression 18 Forms in NW Caribbean – Will Bring Heavy Rain to Cuba, Florida, and Bahamas

Posted by Levi at 12:26pm on October 28, 2017

Tropical Depression 18 has formed in the NW Caribbean. The low-level circulation remains loose and broad, but some strengthening is possible today, and TD18 is expected to become a tropical storm tonight or tomorrow. The primary threat from TD18 is expected to be heavy rainfall in Cuba, south Florida, and the Bahamas, which may induce flash flooding in spots. Tropical Storm force (40 mph or stronger) winds are possible in portions of Cuba and the Bahamas today and Sunday, with Tropical Storm Warnings issued in those areas. A Tropical Storm Watch has also been issued for southeast Florida. TD18 is moving quickly northeastward, and by late Sunday will be clearing out of the region into the western Atlantic, where it will merge with a frontal system.
