Latest Information from the National Hurricane Center
Thank you Levi! This is gonna suck! We are getting the worse part of it tomorrow.
If you ever start a fan club, I want to be president. 55 year resident of South Florida here and veteran of 6 hurricanes, Mathew being #7. Your presentations are a perfect blend of the “for sures” and “we don’t knows”. Very honest and no hype. Thank you for what you do.
Great video, Levi. Spot on about the surge. Incredible to track this storm.. got a feeling the next few days are gonna be historical. Plus a possible loop and multi-strike down the road… what a storm. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s video.
Thanks as always Levi! Reporting from Port Saint Lucie, Fl We are prepared. We are ready. Hoping for the best.
I second what Christopher just said. Thank you, Levi!
Amazing video. These non-network broadcasts are starting to get way better than weather network and any news source. Loved it. Thanks.
escapekits.com keeps you safe during and after a disaster
Been following your blog for a couple of years and it’s been great. You keep me sane.
Well done. Fort Lauderdale resident here. This blog is an oasis of reason and cautious calculation in a universe of hype,
Thanks for the latest update.
Levi we couldn’t live without you during hurricane season! We are both FL natives in our 60’s and in all those years have not had such great information as you provide. I have to second what Christopher and Jason said! You’re certainly worth more than the donation I’m leaving.
Thank you very much! I appreciate it.
Like NanseaZ says below, let’s help Levi keep this site going.
I live in Wisconsin with relatives in Florida.
Don’t applaud, just send money!!!
Many thanks and appreciation of your wisdom. we are in a small fishing village Sebastian, Florida. east coast Indian river county…. looks like Mathew is heading right towards us. I remember 2004 when the large trees where swaying at 3AM,and the roof her busted a gut of water. and here we go again. Ready here
You are awesome Levi. I am in Houston so I think we are pretty safe on this one. However, I have friends in Savanah and also North Carolina we are concerned about. Your videos always explain things in such a way that anyone can understand them. Thanks for your insights.
Hello Florida friends,
The donation button is up in the right Conner of page.
Its very easy to show appreciation.
i”m sure Levi will use the cash wisely.
Excellent video Levi! Thank you!
Thank you, Levi. I am a long time south Florida resident and just found this website last night. Very thankful. Excellent analysis. Clear, informative, and packed with information. One thing I noticed though is that you may not be familiar with the Bahamas (but it has no effect on your weather knowledge!). Andros is pronounced like “Anne-dros”‘ not “Ahn-dros” and Exuma is pronounced “Ex-zoo-Ma”‘ with the accent on the second syllable, not like the skin affliction. I am not picking, just trying to help you as you may not be from this area. Thank you for this excellent service. It is much appreciated.
Thanks Billy – It’s hard to get all the places in the Atlantic right, but I’ll try to remember.
I’m worried about people not being bothered by Matthew, and dismissing the hurricane, thinking that it won’t effect them. This happened with Hurricane Katrina, and people actually did not bother to watch the news, and the storm surge took them by surprise. They had no idea a hurricane was coming ashore until it was way too late.
Folks I am a computer tech and I understand the cost associated with web sites. Just like our cell phones there are usage limits.
I am not associated with Levi’s site other than a frequent reader.
SO I ask you all to donate to this site as I did. Don’t want to the site crash due to high user volume during our storm time of need.
Thanks Levi for clear and understandable weather reporting.
I have lived in Florida most of my adult life. Your site helped me to begin prep for Matthew last week and clear out my garage and begin the shutter up project.
Levi, this is one of the best technical sites I have seen for tropical information. Your explanations are very educational and informative. Keep up the good work. I’ve been sending friends and colleagues links to your site. Great work. Keep it up.
You are the Best, clear and so informative, thank you.
Levi, I live in Temple Terrace FL and I found your videos a while ago on YouTube, but just realized you had this great website. You do an excellent job. I am an engineer, so I like to understand things and your videos give a balanced view of the various steering factors, etc. Much better than any weather network IMHO. Keep it up! You have a great career ahead of you.
In Tampa Bay we are totally unprepared if Matthew were to steer along the west edge of the NHC path. It surprises me that our local TV stations are so laid back on this, considering the hyper drumbeats of panic when have a tropical storm. I just remember when Charlie was on a path towards us and then suddenly did a right turn in south of us. These storms can do some anomalous actions.
That might be a very interesting video to do someday, if you could – a post storm recap of what models were saying verses what actually happened. We never get followups from normal news/weather media.
This is a great point, Jamie! I would love to see a video like this!
This is a great website. I just can’t watch my local news stations anymore. 2 minutes of talking about the storm and then 20 minutes talking to idiots at gas stations asking them stupid questions. So much hyperbole and fear mongering.
Is it possible for Matthew and Nicole to combine? TS for winds appear to get vey close together.
